Each one-hour session is a training or presentation session designed to educate and inspire.

Introduction College Golf Basics Tutorial Series

Attending college and playing collegiate team golf be an unforgettable experience. Aside from the obvious benefit of getting a college degree, collegiate golfers gain life skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management. College golf can be a great opportunity to compete at a high level and hone your skills to prepare for the professional level. In any profession!

If you are familiar with collegiate athletics at all, you probably know that most inter-collegiate athletic programs belong to a voluntary association such as the NCAA, NAIA and the NCJAA. These associations govern the competition and set the standards and guidelines for which the athletic programs must adhere.

The NCAA, or National Collegiate Athletic Association, is probably the most widely recognized association, but not the only one. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is a similar association of smaller colleges and universities. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NCJAA) is an association of community and junior college athletic departments. NCAA and NCJAA are limited to institutions in the U.S., whereas the NAIA permits membership to colleges and universities outside the U.S.

Whether you are an aspiring professional golfer or simply want to play college golf, it is important to be well informed.

The TRC College Golf Tutorial Series is meant to provide junior golfers with a road map to a successful career in collegiate golf.

Inside the ropes!

Walking down a plush green fairway, beautifully manicured, the same fairway the likes of Tiger, Phil, Sergio, and Jack have walked.

And it gets even better!

Welcome to the world of competitive golf. Every year, the PGA of America stages some of the game’s greatest championships, and in 2010 the 35th edition of the Junior PGA Championship will be contested August 2-5 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. “The Jack Nicklaus Signature design will present the nation’s top-ranked juniors a great challenge on which to display their talents,” said PGA President Jim Remy.

It’s An Experience Unlike Any Other.

And if the 2010 Junior PGA Championship is anything like past versions of the Junior PGA Championship, fans, golfers, and officials are in store for a week of thrilling golf. In fact, you don’t have to go too far back to find a final round that kept golf fans on the edge of their seats. In the final round of the 2008 boys’ championship, Anthony Paolucci needed to get up and down on the 72nd hole to force extra holes, and he did so. And the wedge shot he hit to force a playoff with Jordan Spieth ultimately catapulted Paolucci to the victory.

And it’s creating opportunities like that, in a championship run by one of golf’s oldest governing bodies that offers junior golfers experiences they just can’t get in other golf events.

You are playing in a tournament run by the same Association that runs the PGA Championship, The Senior PGA Championship, and the Ryder Cup – The PGA of America.

The 2009 Junior PGA Championship, played at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio was won by T.J. Vogel (boys’ division) and Alexis Thompson (girls’ division). In fact, for Thompson, who made a lot of noise on the LPGA Tour this summer, it was the second time she captured the Patty Berg Trophy (awarded to the winner of the girls’ division of the Junior PGA Championship). Just 14-years-old, Thompson won her first Junior PGA Championship in 2007 at the age of 12.

Meanwhile, in the boy’s championship, Vogel, from Cooper City, Florida shot a 68-66-72-66 to earn the Jack Nicklaus Trophy, and for Vogel, the win was “extra” special as it was his final tournament as a junior golfer.

“I wanted to win my last tournament before going to college, and I accomplished that goal,” Vogel told the Associated Press. “I could not picture this any other way, leaving junior golf.”

Finishing two shots off the pace was Spieth, who had to settle for a second-place finish for a second-straight year. Jordan Spieth won the U.S. Junior Amateur leading into the Junior PGA Championship as well.

The Junior PGA Championship – A Week That Includes More Than Golf

What makes the Junior PGA Championship particularly standout compared to other junior golf tournaments is the fact that it is run by the PGA of America. There are no entry fees, nor is there a membership fee required to play for the national championship. And, the PGA of America offers a career awareness seminar for all participants. The seminar focuses on the many career choices available to juniors seeking to make a living in the world of golf.

Past Champions

The Junior PGA Championship is also recognized as a major stepping stone for some of the world’s best golfers. Trevor Immelman, winner of the 2008 Masters, won the Junior PGA Championship in 1996. David Toms, who won the PGA Championship in 2001, captured the Junior PGA Championship in 1984; while Cristie Kerr, who won the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Championship, hoisted the Patty Berg Trophy in victory in 1995.

Others who have won the Junior PGA Championship include: Billy Andrade (1981), Billy Mayfair (1982), and Sean O’Hair (1998); while golfers such as Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard, Jim Furyk and Stewart Cink have also played in the Junior PGA Championship.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JACKSONVILLE, FL (October 14, 2009) – World-renowned golf instructor Jim McLean, a long-time advocate of junior and amateur golf, has started an association with http://tourresourcecenter.com. In fact, one of McLean’s more famous workout sessions – The X-Factor Session – has been donated to the Tour Resource Center for members only. This session builds upon your swing from setup through the finish, and Jim leads you through The X-Factor Session through a combination of drills and body movements all designed to help you build a powerful and repeatable golf swing.

The X-Factor is the measurement of the gap created (in degrees) between your shoulder turn and your hip turn. The larger the gap, the bigger the X-Factor. The bigger the X-Factor the farther and straighter you will be able to hit your golf ball. The X-Factor, incidentally, was identified by Jim McLean in 1992 and has since become one of the main ingredients that instructors – worldwide – look for in every great golf swing.

ABOUT TOUR RESOURCE CENTER

The Tour Resource Center was developed to provide golfers at all levels the resources and tools needed to help them improve their game. Tour Resource Center will help assist golfers by explaining the ins and outs of golf at each level of the game: junior, amateur, and professional; while also providing caddies a tool to post their credentials on-line to make it easier for players to search for qualified caddies.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Web Site is THE Resource Center for Golfers around the world

JACKSONVILLE, FL — (September 24, 2009) – TourResourceCenter.com, the most comprehensive web site EVER built for golfers. The TRC provides Junior Golfers, Amateur Golfers, Aspiring Professional Golfers and Caddies information and resources to develop an on-line schedule for competitive play at all levels.

“The TourResourceCenter.com is a comprehensive interactive educational golf resource center for its members: junior golfers, amateur golfers, professionals, parents, and caddies. It will offer information, interactive counsel and links to resources that will help members navigate efficiently through their golf playing experiences at a variety of competitive levels,” said Dr. Betsy Clark, former Vice President of Professional Development for the LPGA.

TourResourceCenter.com is the first site of its kind and provides an invaluable service to golfers of all levels that includes:

Tournament Matching –members (junior golfers, amateur golfers, professional golfers) select tournaments to play in based on abilities and golfing objectives

Advice from players to players and professionals on all aspects of competitive play like how to lower your score, how to move up the rankings, etc.

Collegiate golf, College Scholarship resources and College Recruiting – how to get and stay on coaches “radar”, etc.

Customized tools to help members build their competitive golf schedule

Offers Caddies a place to post their resume, and members a place to find caddies

Find your way into Ranked Amateur Events, Sponsor exemptions to Professional Events, Pro-Ams and Celebrity events around the world

And much, much more

Georgina Lewis, founder of the TourResourceCenter.com, has experienced the joy – and frustrations – that come along with being the parent of a very successful junior and amateur golfer. Traveling around the country to some of the most important and prestigious amateur tournaments in the US and Mexico, Lewis saw a need to help others by providing “backdoor solutions” to, what can be, a very confusing system. Few Junior golfers understand how to get into the best golf tournaments, how to gain exemptions into higher level golf tournaments, and which tournaments are the “musts” to get recognized by college coaches.

“We want to provide to our members a complete resource for all Golfers: Juniors , Amateurs of all ages, aspiring Professionals and Caddies. This is where they can come to get the ”real scoop from player to player”. This is a comprehensive resource center for players not only including golf tournaments but also includes health, fitness, mental coaching, etc. This site will also provide Amateurs with professional tips, comprehensive tournament lists, where to play, and secrets of what the best golfers do,” said Lewis, who sold her very successful IBM affiliated computer business of 14 years to start TourResouceCenter.com. “We are the first and only site that brings all the tournaments from all the National Tours into one site, and allows our members to build a custom schedule with easy to use tools.”

There are over 1,000 Amateur golf tournaments and 1,800 junior golf tournaments played in the U.S. every year, and every single tournament will be listed on TourResourCenter.com. TRC explains the five different levels of junior golf and the different kinds of tournaments there are from 1-day moderate events to multiple-round highly competitive events played at the most aggressive conditions. For the adults, “the Amateur Golfers” looking to compete at different levels of Amateur golf – both men and women – can find the same invaluable information as well, including Celebrity golf events, Pro-Ams, and Ranked events to name a few.

“While there are numerous resources where an Amateur golfer can obtain instructions as it relates to their setup, swing, and putting stroke, there has never been a credible source for juniors and aspiring amateurs to access advice, strategy and ‘tidbits of golf knowledge’ that is geared to providing the golfer with a different competitive edge … how to successfully navigate the process of the amateur competitive world. That’s what the TRC aims to do and this should prove to be an invaluable aid to all golfers focusing on playing competitive golf,” said Bruce Lucker formerly Senior Marketing Strategist for the PGA TOUR.

TourResourceCenter.com will also offer several other features, references and “tips” that are critical to successful competitive play at all levels such as Health, Fitness, Nutrition information and the Mental side of the game.

Said Lewis, “Our purpose is to earn the loyalty of all golfers, Men and Women Amateurs, Mid-Amateurs, Senior Amateurs, Junior Golfers from all ages 5 to 18, Junior golfers wanting to become a Ranked Amateur, to the Seasoned Professional. To expand our relations by promoting a website that is a universal leader in excellence, cost, and enthusiasm. Our Vision is to have the Tour Resource Center considered the unsurpassed golf resource center in North America and the World.”

In the fall, TRC will be adding a section to its website for Aspiring Professional Golfers (Men and Women) as well. This very unique service will help golfers identify the various skill and performance requirements needed to qualify for different professional mini-tours, regional tours, and the official developmental tours of the PGA and LPGA, the Nationwide Tour and the Duramed Futures Tour.

Unique to TRC will be a section offering caddies an incredible service. Caddies looking for a permanent gig, looking to build their reputation, looking for temporary work, can register (post their resume) in an exclusive database that can be accessed by golfing members of TRC. This service will assist golfers in their quest to find the best caddies available for the highest level of play.

What credit cards can I use to pay for membership?

How do I figure out what tournaments I should be playing (for Juniors)?

Once you register, click the Junior link. Examine the chart on the left and decide what your goals are and your current playing abilities. Place your mouse over those goals. Our site will highlight the levels of Junior Golf (on the right) that apply to you. At that point, click more… and you will enter that level of the junior golf program, the tournaments you need to be playing in will show in the left sidebar. For instance, if your goals are to play collegiate golf you will want to be playing in levels 1 thru 3 by your junior year in high school.

How can I move up to the next level?

This depends on many factors: Your attitude, your goals, your passion for playing and your willingness to work on your game.A good idea is to set realistic goals in stages. If you’re a rookie to competition and just beginning to play in tournaments, a goal of ” I want to become a tour professional in 9 months” may not be a realistic goal. To begin, it’s a good idea to set a realistic and easier targeted goal. Move up from the beginner level tournaments into the recognized, feeder tours and so on. Do the same from Junior to Amateur, Amateur to Professional, Professional feeder tours to the PGA or LPGA. Or just set a goal to reach a level of competence at which you can enjoy a round of golf with your friends.

Where can I find information for tournaments?

Information for tournaments can be found on the links under the tournament information area on each level’s link.

I’m good, but I have financial issues that stop me from playing up into more expensive Levels?

Some of the junior tours offer financial scholarship help in some way. Go under the scholarship line in The TRC Rookie section and see what is available. There are many players taking advantage of scholarships today. Don’t be shy; search, ask and apply!

The Tour Resource Center (TRC) was created to help golfers of all skill levels and ages by providing a simplified presentation of the many golf tournaments available in today’s world. In addition to tournament information, TRC offers Amateurs, aspiring Professionals, Caddies, Junior Golfers, and Professionals, a simplified process to finding the best resources and solutions for reaching playing and career goals. Additionally, TRC will offer tips from some of the world’s most highly respected instructors, news and articles on issues facing the world of golf today, blogs on a variety of topics, and a database of over 3,000 golf tournaments!

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE:

Junior Golf:
When it comes to junior golf, very few parents and/or juniors entering the world of competitive junior golf are prepared for what awaits them. How to register for tournaments, how to get exemptions, how to qualify for tournaments, how to advance from level-to-level, and which tournaments are essential to golfers seeking college golf scholarships, are all questions that can be answered and found on TRC. Building an individualized plan/schedule for a junior golfer has never been easier.

Amateur Golf:
For Amateur golfers – no matter what age – there is an incredible amount of information available on TRC. For example, with TRC, Amateurs can find designated “ranked” events to give them a better chance to be recognized and afforded the potential to be selected to play in professional events and/or on the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, or other prestigious invitational’s. TRC can also help Amateur golfers find events to play with Hollywood’s best, Pro-Am’s with top LPGA or PGA professionals, or where to play locally or regionally – as an individual or in team events.

Professional Golfers:
TRC is a also a perfect source for Professional Golfers, or aspiring professionals, looking to build their career, to understand the commitment it takes to play golf at its highest levels, and preparing their game for a run at the PGA TOUR, the LPGA Tour, or other professional circuits. TRC has customized tools to help Professional Golfers and aspiring professionals best prepare for a playing career. Playing great golf may get amateurs to the “big Tours”, but sustaining a competitive edge and balancing physical golf fitness, and the mental game will lead to success. At TRC, the resources, “short cuts” and tips for success will help guide and streamline the process for new and aspiring professionals so they can focus on what matters most.

Caddies:
For the first time ever, a site has been created for caddies where they can register, post their resume, and find opportunities for hire to “loop” for amateurs or professionals for a single, short-term, or long-term contract.

During this time she created and conducted numerous player development clinics and teacher/coach workshops throughout the country.

Prior to her full-time position with the LPGA in 1994, Dr. Clark taught at the college and university level for 17 years as a teacher educator/coach. As an educational consultant for the National Golf Foundation she spearheaded the 1993-1994 NGF Welcome to Golf project and was co-author of the NGF Welcome to Golf publications. Dr. Clark was also on the LPGA planning committee for the industry-wide Women in Golf summits (1991, 1993, and 1995).

As LPGA vice president of professional development, Dr. Clark was responsible for overseeing the education, research, career development and certification programs for the LPGA membership. She currently serves on a variety of golf industry committees and task forces. In 2009 she was appointed President of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf.
